Setting preferences

 

On selecting the Preferences menu option a dialog will display to facilitate the setting of options relating to the appearance of the data output in the Gedcom file. A screenshot of this dialog can be seen below.

The five (5) configuration options are:

 

Character Case
       This option is applied to all data and the choices available are:
 

       Title Case (default)
       Upper case
       As entered

 

Date format
       This option is applied to all dates and is modified by the options Month format and Date Separator and may be overwritten by the settings of the target application into which the Gedcom file is to be loaded. The choices available are:

 

         D M Y  (day month year)

         M D Y  (month day year)

         Y M D  (year month day)

 

The default setting is controlled by that of the operating system of the computer where Gedcom Builder is installed.

 

Month format

       This option is applied to all dates and represents the display for the month component of the date. The choices available are:

 

                 Text       (3 character format)

                 Number  

         

Date separator
       This option is applied to all dates and represents the character to be used to separate the component parts of the date. The choices available are:

 

Space (default)

Hyphen (-)

Slash    (/)

Period   (.)
 

Calculated birth date

This option is a check box which enables selection as to whether a calculated birth date is to be assigned based on the age of a person as at the date of death, of if not known the burial date.
